  I first signed up for auto insurance and renters insurance about February 2016. The staff were friendly and efficient and I thought the premiums were fair. However, when my insurance was due for renewal, the premium was increased substantially. I called and asked why and they said it was because of the claim I submitted to my former insurance agency when I hit a rock on the highway in January 2016. That did not seem fair to me that through no fault of my own, they surcharged my policy with them. Also, I received several small refund checks and no explanation was provided. I called the State Farm staff who explained that if I wanted to know what they were for, then I had to call them. I thought that was very inconvenient and not very customer friendly. The last straw was after I added a 2nd vehicle, I received a cancellation notice after a month or so and refund check just for the 2nd vehicle because they claimed that I had not provided information regarding the rock incident noted above that I had with my 1st vehicle. However, since I had previously provided an explanation to State Farm staff so it made no sense. Without verifying the problem they just cancelled the insurance Anyway, I got tired of dealing with State Farm regarding all these issues. Again, the Mark Hess staff was friendly and I think had good intentions. They blamed the cancellation on an underwriting department error. The problems exceeded my patience threshold making it time for a change.
